Is it animal cruelty to give dog champagne?
On New Year Day, I gave my dog a bowl of champagne…
and when she went downstairs, she slipped at the
end of the stair and flopped on the floor.
Is it cruel or is it okay to give dog champagne?

Well that’s not what your thinking but that’s what you did.You gave a dog champagne and that destroys the poor dogs liver.

What is wrong with people??? The idocy of humanity never ceases to amaze me.
Dogs do not drink alchohol. Nor do they celebrate New Years. Yes, it was unhealthy to give her champagne.
Please rehome the dog and buy a fish (NOTE: Fish do not drink champagne either so resist dumping a bottle into the bowl on the next holiday)

probably NOT GOOD! once we fed my dog root beer… and he had a seizure. if a little carbonation can do that, imagine what alcohol will do!

I guess it is okay if you wanna make a drunk out of your dog. I never did see what people thought was so great about vhampagne in the first place. Give me a bud light and Im happy.

OF COURSE ITS NOT OKAY TO GIVE YOUR DOG ALCOHOL! are you serious?? sometimes i cant comprehend all the stupidity in this world.
you shouldnt give your dog any alcohol, chocolate, onion, or grapes. all these things are harmful to your animal.
but alcohol is basically like poisoning your dog. or at the very least destroying her livers and their your vet bills when she begins to have liver failure because you’re a dumbsh*t!

Cruel not really…flipping stupid…YES! Dogs DO NOT metabolize human foods and drinks…especially alcohol in the same manor humans do. The old myth about don’t give your dog table scraps…so many people relate it to begging…an unwanted behavior…however the truth is constant high in fat foods, sugars etc can triger an unwanted response in your dog…pancreatitis, amoung other issues more subtle…this issue requires an expensive emergency room visit and on going care.
Don’t give your dog champagne…seriously, perhaps you should consider cutting back a bit yourself.
Many humans amplify their thoughts and feeling towards their pets, classifying them as more of a human member than an animal. While they bring us much laughter, joy and comfort, they should not be fed like us humans. Some people never have children, only dogs or cats…and they LOVE their animals.
Hope you have learned from your bad choice.

it depends on whether the dog likes it and wants to get drunk…Lots of dogs love beer as well; they are smart and know instinctively whether something is bad for them.Let them choose.I do not think it is cruel,you are not forceing it down there throuts are you???

lol did you hear about that dog in germany who ate some windfall apples a few months ago and became so sloshed he couldn’t stand? the apples fermented in his tummy and turned alcoholic. See that was funny because
a) the dog did it himself and
b) he wasn’t hurt.
However i suggest that, just like chocolate and other junk, you don’t give her stuff you know is bad for you too.

Im a kid and im glad to be out of school but, i dont like others on here being stupid. For one, its nowhere near New Years, what would make you post this now, even if it was true
No its not ok to give a dog champagne. It is cruel. Would it be ok to give a 4 year old kid a bowl of champagne? think about that and answer your own question.

In a sense yes…if you knew that alcohol was bad and toxic to your dog and gave it to them then yes that is animal cruelty but if you didn’t know that, then no.
So for the future, alcohol is toxic to dogs and can cause neurological problems. So please don’t give him/her any more.
