I’ve been having weird post-apocalyptic dreams for the past two weeks…?
I was at my house with a friend (Who was staying the night at the time) and we were trying to get something but there was a tranny that looked like Ru Paul along with his midget minions. They had bombs in the shape of moons and stars and they kept throwing them at us. Somehow we negotiate and we’re allowed in the house. I go to the bathroom and it’s a large room of black tile and a single toilet. There was a television on the wall a few feet in front of the toilet. My grandma comes in and a commercial for 2012 comes on and she starts talking about the end of the world. I wake up.
I was at home again and there was an infection going on. People were turning into rabid animals, like how they did in 28 days later but less bloody. The government was there trying to clean ever later but less bloody. The government was there trying to clean everything up and they we almost finished. When they were done, they were going to leave. My mom got a hold one some infected blood or something and she said that one of us needed to infect ourselves so the government will stay around. We drew straws and I lost. I wake up.
Today’s was like the last, another mass infection except this one was more light hearted. I started off in town but it looked like Las Vegas because there was neon on everything. I went to this fancy dinner and everyone was dressed up in big poofy gowns and tuxedos. I was in plain clothes. Suddenly people start getting infected if they were licked in the face. They turned into smiling idiots. I end up back and my house where my grandpa is. There are some infected outside and they get him. I’m able to run but my dogs are outside in the fish pond. I get my border collie Allison (died two years ago) and my beagle Red (died in May). It’s a complete nightmare outside. I wake up.
I don’t know if these mean anything or not.

I have dreams like this a lot, too. Especially the kind about the end of the world. Usually, in my dreams, society has already collapsed and those of us remaining are struggling to scrape out an existence in the abandoned cities and glacial wastelands left in the world.
As a psychologist, I could hazard that apocalyptic dreams are stress-related, and that those of us who have them feel like we are out of control, under appreciated, and rarely listened to. This has been my experience, anyway.
However; there is one other commonality I’ve seen in people who dream of the end of the world: we all make good storytellers. We think in the linear, which means that rather than having a dream that is just a jumble of feelings and images, our dreams actually follow a PLOT. They have conflict and resolution; they have characters and a storyline. It’s like our minds are writing books in our sleep.
Although your dreams may be disturbing, you have to admit that they’re also very intriguing. You’ve got some good movie ideas going on here. You might want to consider taking up writing as a hobby, or at least keeping a dream journal. Don’t waste your good ideas, even when they’re frightening.
